چکیده

Grasmick et al.’s Low Self-Control Scale (LSCS) is considered the gold-standard of self-control measures due to frequency its use in criminology. The aim present study examine psychometric properties LSCS from a more modern perspective and develop shorter version. Our sample consisted young adults ( N = 610, M 21.33 years, SD 3.09) Portugal. six-factor intercorrelated model showed an adequate fit, but models that would legitimate using total score could not be confirmed. subscales’ intercorrelations revealed some low non-significant correlations. six subscales distinctive correlates with other measures, three presenting problematic Confirmatory factor analysis was subsequently used three-factor version strong cross-gender measurement invariance good reliability. Findings have implications for validity general theory crime specifically which components greatest empirical linkages conduct problems related deviance.

Further Psychometric Evaluation of the Self-Stigma Scale-Short: Measurement Invariance across Mental Illness and Gender

BACKGROUND This study cross-validated the factor structure of the Self-Stigma Scale-Short (SSS-S) in a cohort of patients with mental illness in southern Taiwan. The measurement invariance of the SSS-S factor structure across mental illness and gender was also examined. METHODS The sample consisted of 161 patients with schizophrenia (51.6% males; mean age ± SD = 40.53 ± 10.38 years) and 189 p...

Self-Control Behind Bars: a Validation Study of the Grasmick et al. Scale

Much empirical support of self-control theory is based on the 24-item scale conceptualized by Grasmick and his colleagues. This study examined the dimensionality of the scale. Exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analyses, and a structural equation model (SEM) produced results that are discordant with much prior research. The Grasmick et al. scale was not unidimensional, more comple...
